We are pleased to report an important decision in one of our cases.
In Shiber v. Centerview Partners LLC, Judge Ramos held that a nonresident employee working remotely for a company based in NYC, who would have worked in NYC but for her termination, has satisfied the impact test for the New York City and State Human Rights Laws against discrimination. As such, our client is permitted to amend her complaint against Centerview to include allegations of discrimination under New York City and State law. This is an important decision piggybacking on the New York Court of Appeals’ recent interpretation of the impact test in Syeed v. Bloomberg L.P.
