Clayman Rosenberg Kirshner & Linder LLP partners Effie Blassberger and Ramsey Hinkle represented a senior executive who was terminated from a public company under circumstances involving allegations of unlawful discrimination. Through negotiations with the company, Blassberger and Hinkle secured a resolution worth four times the severance initially offered to their client.
The financial result was significant. But what the client said afterward meant even more.
“From our very first conversations, I felt like you genuinely listened to me and understood not only what had happened but why it mattered,” she wrote in a note to Blassberger and Hinkle. “After an experience where I often felt that my voice and contributions had been dismissed, having people in my corner who made sure I was heard and advocated for me meant more than I can probably put into words.”
She continued: “This was a difficult period in my life but I never felt like I was navigating it alone. Thank you for believing in my case, for standing up for me and most importantly, for making me feel that what happened to me mattered.”
The client’s words point to something essential in employment disputes and capture an important part of why we do this work. Employment disputes are about more than dollars and negotiating leverage. For clients who have been treated unlawfully, having advocates who listen carefully, take their concerns seriously, and fight to make sure their voices are heard can be just as important as the ultimate result.
We are proud to have helped this client achieve both.
