Kirshner and Blassberger Achieve Successful Outcome in Tragic DUI Case

Isabelle Kirshner and Effie Blassberger recently achieved an outstanding result for a client facing a charge of Manslaughter after she tragically caused the death of her father while driving under the influence.

The client had an extremely high blood alcohol level and was facing a potential sentence of 8⅓ to 25 years in prison if convicted. After months of zealous advocacy, Kirshner and Blassberger successfully convinced the Sullivan County District Attorney’s office to permit a plea to the lesser charge of Vehicular Manslaughter.

At sentencing, the District Attorney’s Office requested a term of two to six years. The lawyers emphasized the young woman’s promising future and extraordinary rehabilitative efforts since the tragic event. The CRK&L team also noted the victim’s family’s express wishes opposing incarceration, which ultimately persuaded the Court to impose a sentence of just six months.
