CRKL partner Isabelle Kirshner recently secured a sentence of one year and a day for Star Brim, whose real name is Yonette Davis. Davis was charged in 2020 with playing a leadership role in large-scale racketeering indictments filed in the Eastern District of New York and the Southern District of New York. Davis entered guilty pleas to two counts of conspiracy to maiming and assault in aid of racketeering. Judge George Daniels also sentenced Davis to three years of supervised release. She faced a maximum sentence of ten years’ imprisonment. The EDNY case had been transferred to SDNY for disposition.
In her sentencing submission, Kirshner noted that following the birth of her child in 2020, Davis “changed her life,” noting that Davis has worked “continuously since her release from prison in 2019,” and suffered the loss of both of her parents to COVID in April 2020.
Kirshner went on to note that Davis’ “Instagram presence grew tremendously because of her close friendship with Belcalis Almanzar, better known as Cardi B. Throughout the years, Davis has developed skin care products, advertised other products, and became an ‘influencer’ which has allowed her to earn additional income.”
Davis is scheduled to begin her sentence in July.
